Versioning & Iterative Reviews

Track visual revisions across design iterations, preview deployments, and URL updates while preserving discussion history.

Managing Design & Code Iterations

As web applications progress from initial mockups to staging deployments and production rollouts, feedback needs to persist without losing context. UIDesigner Review organizes feedback into versioned snapshots.

Creating a Review Version

  1. Click the version dropdown in the top header (defaults to v1).
  2. Select Create New Version.
  3. Provide a version label (e.g., Sprint 42 Preview, Vercel Preview #104, or Post-Client Feedback).
  4. Optionally update the target URL if the deployment has a new preview branch domain.
  5. Click Create Version.

Preserving Threads Across URL Updates

When staging URLs change (for example, moving from pr-12.preview.app to pr-14.preview.app):

  • All unresolved comment pins remain linked to their respective DOM selectors and relative positions.
  • When the new preview loads, UIDesigner's re-anchoring engine searches the new DOM tree for the matching selectors and reconnects existing threads.
  • If an element has been removed or fundamentally redesigned, the pin transitions to an Unanchored Comment badge in the sidebar so no stakeholder feedback is ever lost.

Comparing Versions Side-by-Side

Compare visual progress between two versions:

  • Open Version History from the top header.
  • Select two versions to compare.
  • View unresolved threads that were addressed between revisions to confirm fixes before final client sign-off.
