Token-Based AI Metering & Credit Consumption

Understand how credits are consumed dynamically based on underlying LLM token usage across AI features.

Fair, Token-Based AI Metering

Traditional SaaS platforms charge fixed, inflated markups for AI actions regardless of the work actually performed. UIDesigner uses an honest, transparent metering model: credit consumption is directly derived from actual underlying LLM token usage.

When an AI operation analyzes a concise component or produces a short CSS snippet, you consume very few tokens—and therefore very few credits.

What Consumes Credits?

Only operations involving generative language and multi-modal vision models consume credits:

  1. AI Smart Assist Comment Rewrites: Polishing tone, generating structured bug tickets, or synthesizing conversation threads.
  2. Wave 2 AI Audit Probes: Multi-modal vision analysis evaluating perceptual image contrast, layout overlap, and copy tone.
  3. Automated Code Remediation: AI generation of complex semantic HTML and accessible CSS diffs for detected violations.

What is Completely Free (0 Credits)?

Core platform workflows and mathematical rules consume zero credits:

  • Manual Comment Pinning & Review Threads: Unlimited free usage.
  • Voice Notes & Screen Recordings: Unlimited free storage within your organization plan.
  • Wave 1 Deterministic Audits: WCAG 2.1 AA mathematical contrast calculations, HTML tree validation, and viewport overflow detection always cost 0 credits.
  • Issue Status Updates & Linear/Jira Syncing: Always free.

Real-Time Usage Monitoring & Budget Controls

  • Audit Run Receipts: Every audit report displaying AI findings includes a transparent breakdown showing the exact input tokens, output tokens, and credits deducted.
  • Organization Usage Ledger: View daily and weekly consumption charts in Settings → Usage.
  • Spend Safeguards: Organization owners can set per-run credit limits or hard monthly caps to guarantee budget predictability across large engineering organizations.
